The Republic Of Guinea Bissau

The Republic Of Guinea Bissau is one of the smallest countries in Africa. It located west of Africa and is under Senegal and just above Guinea and to the west is the Atlantic Ocean. Guinea is just about 37,000 km² in size with a population of about 1.6 million. Its Capital is Bissau and is official Language is Portuguese.

Guinea was part of the Kingdom of Gabu part of the Mali Empire and was a trade point for slavery and slave ships.

Guinea claimed its independence from Portugal in 1974 after an independence war that had a massive large scale affect on the economic infrastructure. Another Civil was accord in 1998 and 1999 which once again disrupted the economy which made it even poorer that what it used to be. In 2004 when the presidential elections were made, Guinea is trying very hard to recover from its state even though the political tension is exceedingly high.

It’s been stated that more than two thirds of the population lives under the poverty line making it one of the poorest countries in the world "God help them". The economies major export depends on agriculture, Fish, Cashew Nuts and Ground nuts. Due to the lack of political help and solution Guinea has had its economy in a depressed state for quite a long time. Guinea has started to show stability from two years after a pact of political agreement was made between the two parties which gave IMF back up structure program. The main problems that need to be fixed now is the political state, investments and the rebuilding of the public administration. At around 2005 Guinea started to become a base for drug trafficking to smuggle cocaine to European countries.
